This transfer painting’s winding forms transform an arrangement of non tessellating forms rather like a journey or path. In making a previous painting, a design for a stencil was printed on paper. Later, the traces of the printer ink on the design were embedded into a gessoed canvas using a transfer process where the artist’s hands rub and rub until the paper disappears and only the ink is left. Rather than painting out areas where the transfer has been imperfect, or the paper has been joined, this work deliberately retains these to reveal the process.
